Reservist Basel Sued, 32, from Peki'in, was killed on Wednesday night when a military fuel truck overturned in the Raba al-Thalathin area of southern Lebanon, near Misgav Am. The accident happened at 10:50 p.m. Sued served as a driver in Battalion 75 of the Golani Brigade's 7th Armored Division and was part of the Golani battle team at the time.
One additional IDF soldier was moderately wounded in the same incident. The military has not yet released further details about the circumstances of the rollover.
Sued was a friend of Maj. Jamal Abbas, the commander of a company in Paratroopers Battalion 101, who was killed on 18 November 2023 in the Gaza Strip at age 23. A post on the Facebook page "Druze Tweeting" said, "Two good friends, two fighters, two heroes," adding that they were "two brave young men, the salt of the earth," who chose service, responsibility, mission, and sacrifice for Israel's security. It said the image of their smiles and comradeship had become a painful memory linking two families, an entire community, and the whole nation.
