Kan Educational received YouTube’s Gold Play Button on Wednesday morning at Google Israel’s offices in Tel Aviv, after its channel passed 1 million subscribers and more than 2 billion views. The milestone is especially symbolic this year, as Kan Educational marks 60 years since the start of educational television broadcasts and 20 years since the educational TV network launched its YouTube channel.
The channel’s original series have driven much of that success. "Shtsashuka" leads with more than 330 million views across Kan’s digital platforms, followed by "Lived Beyt" with about 295 million, "Karamel" with more than 225 million, "Yaldei Beit Ha'etz" with 180 million, and "Ha'achin Sheli Benz" with more than 90 million.
Acting deputy television chief Zivit Davidovitz said the achievement reflects the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation’s ability to create quality, relevant content. "I am proud to be part of a team that makes sure our children are in professional and creative hands," she said.
Kan Educational director Omer Manor said reaching 1 million subscribers proves the channel can offer children popular content without compromising quality, adding that parents sometimes allow "a little too much screen time." Google Israel CEO Barak Regev called the achievement recognition for strong local creation that connects generations of Israelis, saying the million subscribers show an appetite for high-quality, values-based Israeli content that captivates both children and parents.
