Singer-songwriter Aharon Razel has released a new single, "Otiyot Melamdot Emunah" (Letters Teach Faith), featuring veteran musician Ariel Zilber. The song is based on the words and teachings of Rabbi Yitzchak Ginzburg and is meant to turn the letters of Hebrew, the holy tongue, into an educational and spiritual tool for Israeli children.
The inspiration came from the Midrash "Otiyot DeRabbi Akiva," which assigns each letter a spiritual lesson for life. As an example, the aleph is linked to "emet, lamad, picha" and the bet to "bakesh Hashem tamid." Drawing on those ideas, Ginzburg created a set of Hasidic and educational teachings for each letter of the Hebrew alphabet.
Razel said he first heard the material as a Hasidic lesson and then turned it into an upbeat, joyful tune aimed at speaking to younger listeners in an accessible musical language. He said he wanted the melody to capture both a child's innocence and the deeper Hasidic meaning hidden in each letter.
To add warmth and simplicity, Razel chose to collaborate with Zilber, creating what he described as a distinctive duet blending Hasidut, music, and nostalgia for childhood innocence. Razel said he hopes the song will enter homes and schools and become part of the soundtrack of Israeli children's lives.
