Singer-songwriter Aharon Razel released a new single on Wednesday, a duet with his longtime friend Odi Ran. The song is the first taste of Razel’s new, energetic Jewish album, which is expected to come out around the Tishrei 5787 holidays.
The track is set to words by the Ramchal from "Mesilat Yesharim." Razel said he chose to release a song of joy in honor of "the recovery and the great miracles that happened to my brother Yonatan." He added that when he wrote the melody, he wanted to bring Ran’s distinctive spirit into the Ramchal’s text, through his voice, faith, and expression.
Razel said the melody came out of his daily study of "Mesilat Yesharim." This is the third song he has created from that learning, after the hits "Mi Sheohev et Bor'o" and "Mivchan Ha'ahavah." Razel is credited as the project’s performer, writer, composer, producer, and host from beginning to end.
Ran’s participation completes an emotional circle for the two artists, who nearly 30 years ago helped lead a quiet but deep revolution in Jewish music. Their reunion is presented as one that will reconnect generations of listeners with nostalgia and excitement.
