Musician and composer Daniel Zamir has released a new song called "Yimlokh," which he wrote to words taken from the Saturday Musaf prayer. The track is performed as a special duet with Berry Sakharof.
Zamir said he took the lyrics from the prayer text and composed the melody himself. He described the song as one of the most unusual and meaningful works he has created, writing that it was not really something he wrote or composed, but something that "chose to pass through" him.
He said the highlight of the process was teaming up with Sakharof. Zamir recalled sending him the first sketch and being moved to receive a response saying he liked it and wanted to sing it together as a duet. He added that working together in the studio was an exceptional experience.
Zamir praised Sakharof as "pure inspiration, as a musician and especially as a person." He ended with a dedication to the song, saying "Yimlokh" is devoted entirely to God, whom he called creator, savior, and redeemer.
