Two months before the revival of the musical Peter Pan opens, star Lee Biran spoke Wednesday about a personal full-circle moment. The new production is based on the original 1988 hit by Uri Passer and Hanoch Rosen.
Biran said that as a child he was “slightly obsessed” with Peter Pan, and that the movie Hook helped him realize his dream was to become a father. “It is interesting that I got the role of Peter Pan only after I became a father myself,” he said in an interview on Kan News’ BaChatzi HaYom on Reshet Bet.
The cast also includes Sasson Gabay, who will return as the iconic villain Captain Hook, a role he played in the original production 38 years ago. Meshi Kleinstein will play Wendy. The show is being directed by Hanoch Rosen, who himself portrayed Peter Pan in the original staging.
Alongside familiar songs such as “Haleila Hu Chayav Lehagia,” the audience will also see a new aerial system brought במיוחד from London. Biran joked that he can always see Rosen “plotting something” in his eyes, asking what he might do to him this time, “hang me upside down” or “throw me.” He said the production is “for children and for anyone who was ever a child,” adding that everyone has a Peter Pan or Peter Pan woman inside them and that not wanting to grow up is natural because people want that feeling to continue.
