Statement of intent filed against undocumented suspect accused of indecent assault in South Tel Aviv

Police have filed a statement of intent against a 37-year-old resident of Obeidiyyeh who was living in Israel illegally, after he was suspected of lying in wait for a 16-year-old boy in South Tel Aviv and committing an indecent act against him. According to police, the incident took place on June 15 in South Tel Aviv, and the suspect is expected to be indicted in the coming days.

The investigation began after a report reached the 100 emergency line. Officers from the Tel Aviv South station opened a probe, gathered evidence, and launched extensive searches in the area to locate the suspect.

Police said the suspect followed the minor until they met, then approached him and carried out the alleged offense. He was found and arrested shortly afterward. Investigators later determined that he was a 37-year-old Obeidiyyeh resident staying in Israel without a permit.

He was questioned and jailed, and his detention was extended repeatedly by the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court. With the investigative material completed and evidentiary basis established, prosecutors filed the statement of intent today, Tuesday, ahead of an expected indictment in the next few days.
