Police said they have completed their investigation into a 37-year-old resident of Obeidiyeh who is staying in Israel without a permit, on suspicion that he ambushed a 16-year-old boy in South Tel Aviv and committed an indecent act. A prosecutor’s statement was filed on Tuesday, and police said an indictment is expected in the coming days.
According to the police account, the incident took place on June 15, when the suspect waited for the minor and then approached him in South Tel Aviv. He is alleged to have then committed an indecent act against the teenager.
After the report was received at police emergency line 100, officers from the Tel Aviv South Station arrived at the scene and began an investigation that included collecting evidence and extensive searches for the suspect. He was located and arrested shortly afterward.
Police said investigators gathered evidence connecting him, in their view, to the alleged offense. His detention was repeatedly extended while the probe was completed, and once sufficient evidence was assembled, the prosecutor’s statement was filed.
