Dramatic Rescue of Unconscious Worker from 55-Meter Crane in Kiryat Bialik

A complex and unusual rescue operation took place Tuesday at a construction site in Kiryat Bialik, northern Israel, after a crane operator in his 40s lost consciousness in his cabin approximately 55 meters above the ground, apparently due to a medical issue. The dramatic rescue was documented.

Magen David Adom (MDA) received the report at 2:19 PM. Due to the worker's precarious location, MDA paramedic Shi Tesler was harnessed and equipped with medical supplies. He ascended the crane's ladders to the cabin, reaching the height of about 55 meters.

Upon reaching the unconscious worker, Tesler administered critical initial medical treatment, including sedation, while firefighters simultaneously conducted a complex rope rescue. After the worker was successfully extracted and lowered, MDA paramedics transported him via a mobile intensive care unit to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. His condition was reported as stable.

"When we arrived at the construction site, we were told that a worker in the crane cabin had lost consciousness," Tesler recounted. "I was harnessed and climbed with medical equipment on the crane using the ladders to a height of about 55 meters, where I saw a man in his 40s unconscious." He added, "I provided him with life-saving medical treatment including sedation during the complex rescue operations carried out by firefighters using ropes, and after he was rescued, we evacuated him by MDA's mobile intensive care unit to the hospital with his condition stable."
