Worker Falls Into 4-Meter Pit at Kiryat Bialik Factory, Seriously Hurt
A man in his early 30s fell on Friday into a pit about four meters deep at a factory in Kiryat Bialik, leaving him in serious condition. Firefighters from the Kiryot station, assisted by the special rescue unit and a hazardous materials monitoring team, were called to HaArazim Street and began the rescue operation.
On arrival, the teams checked the pit for toxic gases to protect both the rescuers and the trapped worker. A firefighter then climbed down, made first contact with the man, and attached a special oxygen mask to provide clean air before the extraction from the pit began.
After the rescue, Magen David Adom medics and paramedics gave the worker, described as about 30 years old, initial treatment and evacuated him in an intensive care ambulance to Rambam Hospital. He was reported to be in serious condition, semi-conscious and stable.
Senior MDA motorcycle medic Gil Pesha said the worker had been trapped in a semi-conscious state, and that firefighters used special equipment to pull him out before handing him over for treatment. Pesha said MDA carried out medical checks and then transported him to the hospital in stable condition.
