Attempted Drug Smuggling Foiled at Jordan Border Crossing
Authorities at the Allenby Bridge border crossing apprehended a suspect attempting to smuggle approximately two kilograms of ketamine into Israel. The suspect, a resident of Judea and Samaria in his 40s, was stopped during a thorough inspection of his luggage, which revealed the drugs concealed within its walls. During initial questioning, the man claimed he purchased the suitcase at a flea market in Nigeria during a recent trip.
The joint operation involved the Israel Police, Customs and Tax Authority, and Airport Authority security. The seized substances, along with two mobile phones suspected of being used in the smuggling operation, were confiscated and transferred to the Bak'a police station for further investigation.
Law enforcement officials stated that security forces will continue to act decisively to thwart drug smuggling attempts at the country's borders, which they deem a threat to public safety.
