Israel Eliminates Hamas Northern Gaza Brigade Commander in Airstrike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced Wednesday that they had eliminated the commander of Hamas's Northern Gaza Brigade, Azz al-Din al-Bik, in a precise airstrike overnight.
Al-Bik assumed command of the brigade following the elimination of his predecessor, Ahmed Ghandour. Prior to that, he served as the brigade's intelligence officer. In his role as commander, al-Bik was responsible for directing the brigade's operatives and planning terror attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. He also worked to rebuild the brigade's capabilities, which had been severely degraded during the ongoing conflict.
The IDF and Shin Bet stated that al-Bik posed an immediate threat to Israeli security. Southern Command forces are deployed in the area and will continue to operate to neutralize any immediate threats.
