Israel Eliminates Hamas Northern Gaza Brigade Commander in Airstrike

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant confirmed the elimination of Azz al-Din al-Bik, identified as the commander of Hamas's Northern Gaza Brigade, in a targeted airstrike in Gaza City's al-Naser neighborhood. The strike, which occurred early Tuesday morning, targeted a hideout apartment where al-Bik was located.

According to a joint statement from Netanyahu and Gallant, al-Bik was involved in planning terror attacks against Israeli forces and recruiting operatives for Hamas. The statement praised the Israeli military and Shin Bet for their "determined action" and vowed to "continue to hunt down all the terrorists of the organization, from its commanders to its last operatives, wherever they hide - until there is no Hamas in Gaza."

Reports from Gaza indicate that fighter jets dropped three heavy bombs on the apartment, causing its destruction and al-Bik's death. Al-Bik is described as a central figure in Hamas's military council, responsible for managing combat and defense operations in the Gaza City area.

His elimination marks the third brigade commander in Hamas's military wing to be killed by Israel in the past month, following the deaths of the commanders of the Rafah and Khan Yunis brigades. Additionally, Mu'een al-Arbid, who reportedly served as Hamas's head of intelligence and security in Gaza, was recently arrested and brought to Israel.
