Israel Eliminates Hamas Gaza Brigade Commander in Airstrike
Israeli warplanes targeted a residential apartment in Gaza City's Nasr neighborhood early this morning, killing Izz ad-Din al-Bik, also known as Abu Hamza or "Ashmawi." Al-Bik was the commander of Hamas's Gaza Brigade within the organization's military wing. This marks the third brigade commander of Hamas to be eliminated in the past two and a half weeks, following the deaths of the commanders of the Rafah and Khan Yunis brigades. These assassinations occur in the wake of the reported capture of the head of Hamas's intelligence in Gaza, Mu'een al-Arabeed.
The strike involved three "apartment bombs," according to the report, and took place in the western part of Gaza City. The elimination of al-Bik is a significant blow to Hamas's military leadership in the Gaza Strip.
