Israel Confirms Elimination of Hamas Commander in Gaza

Israeli fighter jets conducted airstrikes in the Nasser area of western Gaza City, targeting the leadership of the radical Palestinian group Hamas. The operation resulted in the elimination of Az-Din al-Bik, known as "Ashmawi," who commanded the northern brigade within Hamas's military wing. According to a source, al-Bik was actively involved in developing military plans against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and recruiting new militants for the organization.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a joint official statement confirming the successful elimination. The country's leadership expressed gratitude to the IDF soldiers and Shin Bet agents for their effective actions against the group's commanders and members. The statement emphasized Israel's commitment to continuing its pursuit of all involved individuals, from leadership to rank-and-file operatives, until the organization's activities in the Gaza Strip cease entirely.

This elimination marks the third such incident in the past two weeks, following previous Israeli operations that eliminated Hamas commanders in Rafah and Khan Yunis. The escalation in conflict and targeted strikes follows the abduction of Muin al-Arabi, the head of security in Gaza.

Israeli intelligence had previously attempted to eliminate Az-Din al-Bik in May of the previous year, but that operation was unsuccessful. The recent overnight strike concluded a months-long search for the commander, whom the military described as a key organizer of the confrontation in the region.
