Top Hamas Northern Gaza Commander Eliminated in Israeli Airstrike

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant confirmed the elimination of Hamas's Northern Gaza Strip commander, Azz al-Din al-Bik, in a targeted airstrike in Gaza City's Al-Naser neighborhood. The strike, which reportedly involved three heavy bombs, destroyed a hideout apartment where al-Bik was located.

Al-Bik was described by Israeli officials as a central figure in Hamas's military council, responsible for managing the fighting and defense in the Gaza City area. He was also involved in planning terror attacks against Israeli forces and recruiting operatives for the organization. The Israeli military stated that al-Bik had held his position since the elimination of his predecessor, Ahmed Ghandour, and previously served as the brigade's intelligence officer.

His elimination marks the third brigade commander in Hamas's military wing to be killed by Israel within the past month. This follows the recent killings of the commanders of the Rafah and Khan Yunis brigades. Additionally, Muein al-Arbid, who served as Hamas's head of intelligence and security in Gaza, was recently arrested and brought to Israel.

Netanyahu and Gallant praised the Israeli military and Shin Bet for their actions, vowing to continue pursuing all Hamas operatives. "We will continue to hunt and pursue all the terrorists of the organization, from its commanders to the last of its operatives, wherever they hide - until Hamas ceases to exist in Gaza," their joint statement read.

According to Israeli military assessments, al-Bik was working to restore the brigade's operational strength after significant damage sustained during the ongoing conflict.
