Ofir Sarid, the CEO of Israeli real estate giant Melisron, has passed away at the age of 55. Sarid had led the company for seven years, previously serving as its CFO. Melisron announced his death with deep sorrow, describing him as a prominent and respected figure in the Israeli capital market, a leading, determined, and professional executive who significantly contributed to the company's growth and its position as a top real estate firm.
The news was met with shock by real estate developers. Just four days prior, Melisron had announced Sarid was taking a medical leave of absence due to health reasons and had begun searching for a replacement. Oren Hilinger, the company's CFO, has been appointed acting CEO until a permanent successor is found.
Sarid, who became CEO in 2019, succeeded Avi Levi and was considered one of Israel's most esteemed executives. Melisron, controlled by Lior Ofer, is the second-largest real estate group in Israel, following the Azrieli Group.
