Ofer Shreid, CEO of Melisron, Dies Unexpectedly at 54

Ofer Shreid, who until last week served as the CEO of the real estate company Melisron, passed away on Monday at the age of 54. Shreid also chaired the subsidiary Aviv Melisron and is survived by his wife and three children.

Melisron announced his death with "heavy hearts and great sorrow," calling Shreid a "beloved and appreciated manager" by the company's board, management, and employees. The company stated that Shreid was a "prominent and valued figure in the Israeli capital market, a leading, determined, and professional CEO who made a significant contribution to Melisron's growth and its establishment as a leading real estate company."

Shreid, a certified public accountant, held a bachelor's degree in economics and accounting from the University of Haifa and a master's degree in law from Bar-Ilan University. He joined Melisron in 2011, serving as CFO for eight years before being appointed CEO in October 2019. Melisron, which owns and manages the Ofer Malls chain, also operates in office spaces, high-tech parks, and residential properties.

During Shreid's tenure, Melisron expanded beyond its core mall and office businesses, notably entering the residential sector through Aviv Initiative. The company acquired a 50% stake in Aviv Initiative in 2022 for approximately NIS 600 million and completed the purchase of the remaining shares in 2024 for NIS 1.25 billion, making it the group's residential arm. In 2025, Aviv Melisron secured land for 320 apartments in Tel Aviv's Shdei Dov area for about NIS 605 million.

Earlier this month, Shreid went on medical leave. Last week, Melisron announced his departure from his role due to his medical condition and initiated a search for a new CEO. CFO Oren Hellinger has been serving as acting CEO since Shreid's leave and will continue in both roles until a permanent CEO is appointed. Liora Ofer, Melisron's controlling shareholder and chairwoman, expressed her deep sorrow, remembering Shreid as a "true friend and partner" and a "valued, professional, and talented CEO."
