Minor Leak Contained at Haifa Port, Hazardous Material Incident Ruled Out
Firefighters responded to a report of a potential hazardous materials incident at Haifa Port on Tuesday, identifying a minor leak from an "ISO tank" belonging to Haifa Chemicals.
Monitoring tests conducted in the immediate vicinity of the tank revealed only low, localized readings. Firefighters successfully sealed the leaking tank by placing it in containment with the assistance of company personnel.
The tank was subsequently moved by crane to the eastern pier for further inspection and treatment. The Haifa and Coastal Fire and Rescue Services stated that there was no concern of a significant hazardous materials event and that the situation was fully under control.
