Hazardous Chemical Leak Prompts Lockdown in Netanya High-Rise Building
An unusual incident unfolded on the morning of July 26 in Netanya, where residents of an 18-story residential building were instructed to remain indoors due to a hazardous chemical leak. Firefighters responded promptly to the scene and are actively managing the situation. One individual was evacuated prior to the arrival of emergency teams for medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Fire and Rescue Services reported that monitoring teams are currently working to prevent the spread of fumes within the building. Firefighters are also sealing the container responsible for the leak to contain the hazard and mitigate further risk. The suspected cause of the incident is the release of chlorine vapors from a container left open in the building's machine room, located on David Dotan Street.
So far, no additional injuries have been reported, and emergency responders continue to handle the event to ensure the safety of all residents.
