Hazardous Material Leak Prompts Evacuation at Modi'in Illit Post Office

A hazardous materials leak from a package at a post office in Modi'in Illit led to the evacuation and isolation of the site. Firefighters, including a specialized hazardous materials unit and monitoring teams, were dispatched to safely contain the leak and prevent any chemical reaction between the two substances found in the package.

Deputy Commissioner Shlomi Harush, commander of the Benjamin regional station, explained that the incident involved a package containing two substances, with one leaking upon arrival at the post office. The emergency teams are currently isolating the area to protect nearby civilians while working to secure the materials and stop further leakage or reactions.

The Israel Fire and Rescue Services continue to manage the situation, prioritizing public safety and containment of the hazardous materials. No injuries have been reported so far, and the investigation into the package's contents and origin is ongoing.
