Police Foil Violent Incident, Arrest Armed Duo After Wild Scooter Chase
Police in southern Tel Aviv thwarted a serious violent incident early Sunday morning by apprehending two armed suspects following a reckless chase on an electric scooter. Officers from the southern Tel Aviv station and the central Border Police (Magav) spotted the two individuals riding together and committing traffic violations that endangered others.
Upon noticing the police, the suspects fled on their scooter, running red lights and driving against traffic, posing a significant risk to other road users. A short pursuit ensued, culminating in a tactical roadblock by Border Police officers that immediately stopped the pair.
A search of the suspects revealed a loaded handgun in the pants pocket of one of them. The two individuals, aged 19 and 36, were arrested and taken for further investigation at the southern Tel Aviv station. Police are expected to request an extension of their detention for investigative purposes at a court hearing later today.
