Israeli Police Chase and Arrest Unlicensed Palestinian Scooter Rider in East Jerusalem

A dramatic police chase unfolded in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of East Jerusalem when a police officer on a motorcycle attempted to stop a scooter carrying two people. The scooter rider, a 20-year-old Palestinian from the Shuafat refugee camp, fled at high speed through the streets, endangering public safety and himself. The chase was captured on the officer’s helmet camera, showing the rider weaving dangerously between vehicles.

The pursuit ended when the scooter lost control and crashed during a sharp turn. Both the rider and passenger fled on foot, but the officer quickly dismounted and gave chase on foot through narrow alleys and parked cars. After a short run, the officer caught the suspect, ordered him to the ground, and restrained him.

Meanwhile, others tried to remove the crashed scooter from the scene, but a vigilant observer at the Jerusalem district control center spotted the attempt and directed officers to recover the vehicle. Police investigation revealed the suspect had never held a driver’s license and was caught driving without one for the third time. He was arrested, interrogated, and is awaiting a remand hearing in court.
