IDF Kills Hamas Terrorist Involved in Noa Argamani's October 7 Abduction

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday eliminated Sahar Shaker, a Hamas terrorist who participated in the October 7th attack and abducted Noa Argamani. The strike reportedly occurred on Jula's Street in the western part of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Noa Argamani was rescued on June 8, 2024, from Nuseirat in central Gaza, after 246 days in Hamas captivity. The same operation also freed Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv. The operation, codenamed "Operation Arnon," took place in a densely populated civilian neighborhood.

Special forces from the Yamam counter-terrorism unit and the Shin Bet security agency simultaneously raided two multi-story civilian buildings approximately 200 meters apart around 11:00 AM. The daytime operation was intended to maximize the element of surprise. Argamani was held on the first floor of one building, separate from the other three hostages. Forces breached the apartment, neutralized the terrorists guarding her, and rescued her unharmed. The breach in her location was swift and smooth.

In the second building, where the three men were held, a heavy firefight erupted. During this exchange, Commander Arnon Zmora, a Yamam team leader for whom the operation was named, was critically wounded. Due to the intense fighting, IDF forces provided extensive air, sea, and ground support to isolate the combat zone and allow the extraction of the forces and hostages. Argamani was evacuated under heavy security in an armored vehicle to a rendezvous point on Gaza's coast, then airlifted by military helicopter directly to Tel Hashomer Hospital, where she reunited with her family.
