Two Arrested, M-16 Rifle Seized After Rahat Shooting Incident
Israeli police arrested two suspects and seized an M-16 assault rifle and ammunition on Tuesday evening in Rahat, a city in the Negev region, shortly after a shooting incident was reported. Police received a report of gunfire in the city's 20th neighborhood, finding shell casings at the scene. Forces from the Rahat police station and the "Sahar" unit quickly responded, identifying and tracking a suspicious vehicle believed to be involved.
During a swift operation, officers located and stopped the vehicle outside a residential area. A search of the car revealed the M-16 rifle, described as having a "still hot barrel" from recent firing, along with six empty magazines and live ammunition. The two suspects were apprehended and taken, along with the seized items, to the police station for further investigation.
The police stated that this operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Southern District and the Special Tasks Headquarters in Rahat to combat violent crime, illegal weapon possession, and enhance public safety.
