Police in Rahat, together with fighters from the Southern National Guard of the Border Police, seized 12 boxes of stolen IDF ammunition containing about 12,000 rounds, along with an M16 rifle, magazines and other military equipment. The raid took place in several compounds across the city as part of an operation aimed at finding illegal weapons and stolen ammunition.
Four suspects were arrested during the operation and were transferred to police for further questioning. Police said they are also carrying out investigative, forensic and evidentiary work to identify additional people involved in the case and arrest them.
The weapons bust came as another Rahat-related case moved forward last month. Just last Friday, the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against Badr Ben Yusef Hasnat, a resident of Rahat, on suspicion of incitement to terrorism and expressing support for Hamas.
Hasnat was arrested by police and the Shin Bet last month. According to the indictment, he used social media accounts to publish and share Hamas-linked content, including posts containing incitement, praise and support for the terror group and its attacks. One post allegedly included a picture of senior Hamas figures who were killed, with a song in the background saying, “They are heroes who left this world but did not surrender and were not humiliated, they sold their souls to Allah and death was not hard for them.”
