Israeli Police Seize Large Cache of Weapons and Ammunition Near Rahat Community Center

Israeli police uncovered a significant weapons cache near the municipal community center in Rahat, a city in southern Israel. The discovery included four fragmentation grenades found in a public garden adjacent to the community center. During the raid, officers also seized weapon parts, approximately 1,400 bullets, and cash.

Further searches conducted on Saturday in an open area revealed a Carlo-type firearm and a magazine concealed nearby. As part of the police operation named "Iron Net," and with assistance from the canine unit, authorities confiscated four boxes of ammunition containing 1,142 rounds of 5.56 mm and 230 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber. Additionally, 18 M16 weapon receivers, three converted fragmentation grenades, and seven rifle stocks were recovered.

In another neighborhood within Rahat, police seized 107 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, two M16 magazines, and a sighting device. A 30-year-old Rahat resident was detained for questioning. In a separate search related to the operation, police also confiscated 186,530 shekels in cash and arrested a 25-year-old illegal resident and a 30-year-old Rahat resident.

The police continue their investigation into the weapons cache and the individuals involved as part of ongoing security efforts in the region.
