Macklemore Announces "Free Palestine Tour" Following Anti-Israel Controversy
American rapper Macklemore announced on Thursday a new European tour titled "Free Palestine Tour," days after facing backlash for his anti-Israel stances. The tour is currently scheduled for three dates: Dublin on October 26, Paris on October 29, and London on October 30.
In a statement posted on X, Macklemore described the tour as a response to the repercussions of his previous statements. He wrote, "What happened to me goes beyond an artist or a stage," criticizing what he called the ability of "the billionaire class" to decide which voices are heard and which are deemed too dangerous.
Macklemore also declared that all proceeds from the tour will be donated to organizations supporting "the Palestinian people and the Palestinian movement." He did not specify which organizations would receive the funds.
The announcement follows controversy surrounding Macklemore's appearances during opening acts for Ed Sheeran's concerts. Sheeran subsequently removed him from the tour due to his anti-Israel remarks.
