Macklemore Announces "Free Palestine Tour" in Europe
American rapper Macklemore announced on Thursday the launch of a new European tour named the "Free Palestine Tour." The tour comes just days after controversy erupted over his anti-Israel statements. Three concerts are currently scheduled: in Dublin on October 26, Paris on October 29, and London on October 30.
Macklemore stated on X that the tour is a response to the repercussions of his previous stances, writing, "What happened to me transcends an artist or a stage." He criticized the power of the "billionaire class" to determine which voices are heard and which are deemed too dangerous.
He also revealed that all proceeds from the tour will be donated to organizations supporting "the Palestinian people and the Palestinian movement," though he did not specify which organizations would receive the funds.
This announcement follows backlash after Macklemore made several statements against Israel during concerts where he was opening for Ed Sheeran. Consequently, Sheeran removed Macklemore from his tour due to these declarations.
