Police Shoot and Kill Suspect in Nazareth After Alleged Shooting at Home

A young man, identified as Omar Hawari from Reineh, was killed in Nazareth after being shot by police during an operation by the Northern District's intelligence unit. Police stated the incident occurred during an intensified effort to thwart shootings and crime, with officers positioned near a building that had reportedly been fired upon in recent days.

According to the police statement, intelligence officers observed a suspect arrive on a motorcycle with another individual. The suspect dismounted, allegedly fired numerous shots at a residential building, and then engaged in a shootout with the officers. The suspect then fled on foot, pursued by police.

Following the chase, officers apprehended the suspect, who had sustained injuries from police gunfire during the confrontation. He was transported to a hospital in Nazareth for medical treatment. Information later confirmed the injured individual was Omar Hawari. He was pronounced dead at the hospital due to his wounds.

The police reiterated their account, emphasizing that the intelligence unit was present as part of an operation against crime and shootings when the suspect allegedly initiated the gunfire, leading to the confrontation and his eventual death.
