Police Fatally Shoot Man Firing M-16 at Nazareth Home
A man in his thirties, identified as Omar Hawari from the town of Reineh, was killed by police gunfire in Nazareth on the night of September 24-25, 2026. According to a police statement, officers observed Hawari firing a barrage of bullets from an M-16 rifle at a residential building.
Police in the Northern District were conducting intensified operations against shooting incidents and crime in Nazareth. The suspect dismounted and began firing heavily at the house.

Northern District Police Commander Major General Meir Eliyahu assessed the situation and praised the officers for their swift action in neutralizing the armed individual, preventing further casualties.
