El Al Israel Airlines has decided to extend the current rules for accumulating 'diamonds' within its frequent flyer program until February 28, 2027, according to Globes. This extension means that the existing requirements for achieving and maintaining elite statuses, ranging from Silver to Platinum, will remain in place for an additional two months beyond the originally planned December 31, 2026 deadline. Passengers will continue to earn points under the familiar system for this extended period.
However, significant changes to the loyalty program are still slated to occur. Starting January 1, 2027, purchases made with FLY CARDs, issued by CAL, will no longer earn El Al points or diamonds. The FLY CARDs themselves will continue to function normally, and all previously accumulated bonuses will be fully retained by their owners.
