El Al Extends Diamond Program Amid Ongoing Enhancements
El Al's frequent flyer program, known as the Diamond Program, has had its current iteration extended until the end of February 2027. Originally slated to conclude at the end of 2026, the airline informed its members that existing program terms will remain in effect until the new date. This extension is attributed to ongoing "developments and further innovations" within the program, according to a customer announcement.
The Diamond Program allows customers to accumulate "diamonds" based on flight purchases and credit card spending, which determines their tier status. Higher tiers offer benefits such as dedicated check-in counters, lounge access, seat selection, and class upgrades. The program's timeline has seen previous adjustments; it was initially valid until September, then extended to December, and now further to February 2027.
These changes occur in the context of significant shifts for El Al's loyalty club. In March, the program transitioned from Cal (Credit Cards for Israel) to Isracard. At that time, assurances were given that points and accumulated diamonds would not be affected. Earlier, in April 2025, El Al implemented changes to how diamonds are accrued, altering tier advancement conditions and the number of diamonds required for progression.
The frequent flyer program is a significant revenue generator for El Al. In the second quarter of the year, it reported $41 million in revenue, a 77% increase year-over-year, with net profit jumping 50% to $26.2 million. For the first half of the year, the program's revenue reached $70.9 million, up 48% from the same period in 2025, and net profit rose 22% to $38.2 million, indicating a strong annual profit rate of approximately $75 million.
