El Al Extends Frequent Flyer Program Amid Transition

El Al has informed members of its frequent flyer program, Matmid, that the current "Diamond" tier benefits will be extended until February 28, 2027. The program was originally scheduled to conclude its current phase on December 31, 2026, but the airline has granted members an additional two months under the existing terms. This extension provides certainty for passengers nearing the next status level, ensuring current conditions apply into early 2027.

However, El Al has not yet detailed the program's structure or benefits beyond the extended February deadline. The airline emphasized that this extension does not signify any changes to point accumulation rules or new benefits. The update occurs during a transition period for the airline's FLY CARD credit card system. In April, the Matmid club's agreement with Isracard became effective, while its partnership with Cal is set to end at the close of 2026.

Previously, Matmid had clarified that Cal FLY CARD holders could continue accumulating points until the end of the year, with all accrued points and diamonds preserved in member accounts, subject to program terms. The primary concern for members remains the conditions that will be in place starting March 2027. El Al's latest announcement confirms only the continuation of the current Diamond program until the end of February.
