Border Police Officers Investigated for Allegedly Stealing, Damaging Patrol Vehicle
The Police Investigations Department (PID) announced it has questioned three Border Police officers under caution on suspicion of taking a parked vehicle during a patrol in the Jerusalem envelope area. The officers allegedly drove the car without authorization and abandoned it without reporting the incident to their superiors. The vehicle has not yet been recovered, according to the PID.
The officers reportedly noticed the car with its keys inside and decided to use it without permission. During their unauthorized drive, they allegedly caused damage to nearby vehicles before abandoning the car. The three officers were questioned on suspicion of vehicle theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and abuse of office.
Following their interrogation, the officers were released on condition that they stay away from police facilities for 15 days. The investigation, being handled by a PID team in Jerusalem, is ongoing.
