Border Police Officers Under Investigation for Alleged Car Theft
Three Border Police officers are being investigated under caution by the Police Investigations Department on suspicion of stealing a parked car, using it without permission, and abusing their authority. The alleged incident occurred during a patrol in the Jerusalem periphery when the officers reportedly noticed a parked car with its keys inside.
Instead of leaving the vehicle, the officers are suspected of taking it and driving away without authorization. During the drive, they are accused of causing damage to nearby vehicles. Subsequently, the officers allegedly abandoned the car without reporting the incident to their superiors. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.
The officers were questioned regarding charges including car theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and abuse of power. Following their interrogation, they were released under restrictive conditions, including a 15-day ban from police facilities. The investigation is ongoing, and the officers have not yet been charged.
