Woman Details How She Uncovered Imposter Posing as Shin Bet Agent

A 34-year-old man from Kiryat Ata has been arrested on suspicion of impersonating a security agent and defrauding a woman he was romantically involved with. The woman, who exposed the alleged scam, revealed in an interview with N12 that she maintained the relationship to gather evidence against him. The suspect allegedly claimed to be a Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) operative who lost his family on October 7th, using this story to explain his secrecy and need for funds.

According to the woman, she began to suspect the man early in their relationship due to inconsistencies in his personal details. Her suspicions grew when she realized his claims about his security service role were false. Despite these discoveries, she decided to continue the relationship to collect more information, stating her goal was to expose him quickly and prevent other women from becoming victims. She described his fabricated story as meticulously detailed, including claims of being a resident of the Gaza envelope communities whose family was killed on October 7th.

The turning point came when the suspect requested money from her. She noted that he blocked her on all platforms, preventing her from verifying his identity. Before contacting the police, she confronted him with some of the information she had gathered, but he reportedly maintained his false narrative.

Following her complaint, the Northern District Police launched an investigation. Authorities confirmed that the suspect had never served in the Shin Bet or any other security body, his family was not killed on October 7th, and he lived with his family in the Kiryat Ata area. He was arrested on September 17th, and his detention has been extended until September 27th on suspicion of impersonation, fraud, and sexual offenses. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining the possibility of other victims.

The woman expressed her hope that he would not be able to repeat such actions and that no other victims would be harmed, reiterating that her primary objective was to expose the truth and ensure justice.
