Man Arrested for Impersonating Shin Bet Agent, Defrauding Woman
Police have arrested a 34-year-old resident of Kiryat Ata on suspicion of impersonating a Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) employee whose family was killed on October 7th. The suspect allegedly entered into a romantic relationship with a woman under false pretenses, defrauding her of thousands of shekels.
The investigation was initiated after a woman from northern Israel filed a complaint, stating she had been in a romantic relationship for several months with an individual she now believes to be an imposter. During their relationship, she transferred thousands of shekels to her partner.
Investigators found that the suspect never served in any security agency and lives with his family in the Kiryat region. His arrest has been extended until September 27th. He is suspected of impersonation, fraud, and sexual offenses.
