Tel Aviv Man Arrested for Sophisticated Food Delivery Payment Scams

The Tel Aviv police arrested a local man suspected of carrying out dozens of sophisticated frauds over recent months by exploiting food delivery orders from pizza, burger, and fast-food outlets. According to reports from Galei Tzahal, the suspect would call businesses pretending to be a customer who had placed an order and request the personal details of the last customer who ordered food. After obtaining these details, he would then contact the customer, impersonating a representative of the business, claiming a credit card payment issue and asking for the payment details again, including the secret code sent by the credit company. Using this information, the suspect allegedly committed fraud amounting to thousands of shekels.

Police are currently investigating 18 separate cases linked to the suspect, with suspicions of additional incidents. He is also being questioned for defrauding a former acquaintance by using her credit card details for purchases and reportedly coercing her into illegal acts. The woman filed a complaint against him in February. During the investigation, police searched the suspect's father's home and seized numerous valuable items believed to have been bought with the fraudulently obtained funds. The father claimed he was estranged from his son and unaware of the origin of the items. The court extended the suspect's detention by six days as the investigation continues.
