Woman Unmasks Tinder Date Posing as Shin Bet Agent

A woman from northern Israel, identified only as 'A', discovered that a man she met on the dating app Tinder was impersonating a Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) agent whose family was allegedly murdered on October 7th. After initiating a relationship, 'A' realized he was a fraud and began gathering evidence against him. The man, a 34-year-old married father of children from Kiryat Ata, was arrested last week on suspicion of impersonation, fraud, and sexual offenses. He reportedly claimed to be from a Gaza border kibbutz, with family killed in the October 7th Hamas attacks, and that he lost his home and suffered financial setbacks due to the events.

'A' described the man as sophisticated, glib, verbally skilled, and charismatic, but she suspected his deception from their first meeting. She decided to continue the relationship to collect evidence, stating, "When I realized I had fallen victim to a romance scam, I decided to stay and prevent further sorrow and frustration for many other women." She noted that he had plausible answers for all her questions, but his eventual demand for a large sum of money prompted her to end the charade.

'A' filed a police complaint, leading to his arrest after several months of the relationship, during which she transferred thousands of shekels to him. His detention has been extended until September 27th. "I hope he doesn't do this to anyone else again," 'A' stated.
