Woman Faces 16 Charges for Dating App Scams and Theft
The prosecution has filed a 16-count indictment against a woman from Netanya, following a police investigation that uncovered a sophisticated fraud scheme. The investigation revealed that the suspect targeted men she met through dating applications and social media platforms.
According to the indictment, the accused would build trust with her victims before obtaining their checks, credit cards, and possessions, including gold jewelry. She then allegedly used these items to make purchases and conduct transactions.
Authorities suspect she used the stolen payment methods and property to buy jewelry and other goods from individuals selling them on social media, employing forged documents and false information. The value of some of the jewelry purchased is estimated to be tens of thousands of shekels.
