Police Solve Jaffa Murder Case Less Than a Month After Shooting

Israeli police have solved the murder of Ahmed Shakra, who was shot dead in Jaffa less than a month ago, the Tel Aviv District's Central Investigations Unit announced Wednesday. Two Jaffa residents in their 20s are expected to be indicted for the killing in the coming days.

The investigation revealed that the victim, 28, was riding an electric bicycle on Jerusalem Boulevard on August 28 around 3 a.m. when a Jeep stopped nearby. The assailant exited the vehicle, shot Shakra multiple times at close range with a handgun, and fled the scene. Simultaneously, reports of a grenade being thrown and a car set on fire in the area were received.

Paramedics found Shakra unconscious with severe penetrating wounds, without a pulse or breathing. They provided life-saving treatment, including prolonged resuscitation efforts, and transported him to Wolfson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Hours after the shooting, detectives located the suspects in a hideout apartment in Holon. During the arrest, one suspect threw a loaded Glock pistol from the apartment. The Jeep believed to have been used in the attack and escape was also found and seized near the building.

The case was fully solved within a month of the murder. The suspects will be brought to court for an extension of their remand pending the indictment.
