Police Solve Two Murder Cases in Northern Israel and Jaffa

Israeli police have solved the murder of Hisham Hajirat in Shfaram, which occurred last month. A statement of intent to indict has been filed against a 24-year-old Israel Defense Forces soldier from Bir al-Maksur, suspected of involvement in the crime. Investigators from Lahav 433's National Unit for International Crimes, "Yahbal," cracked the case, which is linked to a blood feud between the "Sa'wed-Khaldi" crime organizations.

The investigation revealed that on July 1, 2026, Ali Sa'wed was murdered at the central bus station. While fleeing the scene, the perpetrators shot and injured Hisham Hajirat. The suspects were apprehended, and on August 10, 2026, a statement of intent to indict was filed against them for that murder.

Hisham Hajirat was subsequently killed on August 12, 2026, when assailants in a vehicle intercepted him as he left his home and shot him. Medical teams pronounced him dead at the scene. The commander of Lahav 433 assigned the "Yahbal" unit to the investigation. Later that day, investigators located the suspect vehicle abandoned in a forest near Bir al-Maksur. They apprehended a suspect who arrived at the scene with a gasoline container, believed to be intended for burning the vehicle. This suspect, also a 24-year-old IDF soldier from Bir al-Maksur, was arrested. After 40 days of detention and the accumulation of evidence, a statement of intent to indict was filed, with the Haifa prosecution expected to file charges.

Separately, police have also solved the murder of Ahmed Shaqra in Jaffa, which occurred late last month. Two men in their twenties from Jaffa have been arrested and are expected to be indicted soon for their alleged involvement in Shaqra's killing. They were apprehended just hours after the crime.
