Two Youths Charged in Fatal Shooting of Jaffa Man
Israeli police have concluded their investigation into the August 28th murder of 28-year-old Ahmed Shaqra in Jaffa, announcing that charges will be filed against two men in their twenties. Shaqra was shot and killed while riding a bicycle on Jerusalem Street in Jaffa. A "Jeep Grand Cherokee" vehicle reportedly arrived at the scene, and an individual exited the vehicle, firing multiple shots at Shaqra before fleeing.
Shaqra sustained critical injuries and was transported to Wolfson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead despite resuscitation efforts. The Central Unit of the Tel Aviv District police led the investigation, utilizing technological means to identify and apprehend the suspects hours after the incident.
During their arrest, one suspect allegedly discarded a loaded firearm, which was recovered by authorities. The vehicle suspected of being used in the commission of the crime was also located. Police stated that evidence linking the suspects to the murder has been gathered, leading to the issuance of a statement of intent to indict.
The prosecution is expected to file an indictment against the two young men in the coming days, along with a request to extend their detention until the legal proceedings are complete. This follows a previous report of the extended detention of three suspects in connection with Shaqra's murder.
