Man Shot Dead in Jaffa, Another Injured; Police Investigate
A 30-year-old resident of Jaljulia, identified as Muhammad Katwan, was shot and killed overnight in Jaffa, Tel Aviv. A second victim, a 20-year-old man, sustained serious injuries in the incident. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported the injured to Wolfson Medical Center, where Katwan was pronounced dead.
The police have launched an investigation into the shooting. Tel Aviv District Commander Superintendent Haim Schergroff conducted a situation assessment and assigned the investigation to the Tel Aviv Central Unit. Police forces are conducting extensive searches for the suspects and collecting evidence from the scene.
Paramedics described the scene as chaotic, finding one victim unconscious with severe penetrating wounds, without a pulse or breathing. Despite their efforts, the victim's injuries were too severe, and his death was declared.
The Abraham Initiatives organization reported that 168 Arab citizens have been killed in crime-related incidents since the start of 2026, including 161 civilians and 7 residents. Of these, 144 were shot dead, with 12 female victims and 7 killed by police. This represents a 1.2% increase in fatalities compared to the same period last year, when 166 victims were recorded.
