Three Arrested for Killing 29-Year-Old Cyclist in Jaffa Shooting

Three men in their twenties from Jaffa were arrested on Friday on suspicion of murdering Ahmad Abd Shokra, 29, who was fatally shot earlier that night on Jerusalem Boulevard in Jaffa. Authorities seized a Glock pistol and a Jeep believed to have been used in the shooting and getaway. Two suspects were found in an apartment in Holon, where police recovered the Glock after the suspects discarded it during the arrest. The third suspect was also detained for involvement in the killing.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when Shokra was riding an electric bicycle. According to initial investigations, a Jeep approached him, and a suspect exited the vehicle, firing multiple shots before fleeing. Shokra was critically wounded and despite emergency medical teams' efforts, he was pronounced dead at Wolfson Medical Center.

Tel Aviv District Commander Chief Superintendent Haim Saragroff took over the investigation, which was transferred to the district's central unit. The Jeep linked to the crime was later located, believed to have been used to reach Shokra and escape the scene. The suspects are expected to appear in Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Saturday night, where police will request to extend their detention.

This murder raises the number of homicide victims in the Arab community to 167 since the start of the year. On the same night, another violent incident occurred in Jaffa involving a grenade thrown at a vehicle, causing it to catch fire, though no connection between the two events has been reported so far.
