Haifa Inspector's Foul-Mouthed Tirade Against Citizens Caught on Video

A municipal inspector in Haifa, Israel, was filmed verbally abusing residents who were attempting to prevent a traffic accident by covering an oil slick on the road with sand. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 23, in the Neve Sha'anan neighborhood. According to witnesses, a courier on a scooter had fallen after hitting the oil spill, and bystanders gathered sand to cover the hazardous patch. When the inspector arrived, she demanded the scooter be removed and threatened fines for non-compliance. Despite explanations that the sand was to prevent further accidents, the inspector allegedly refused to listen and responded with profanity when a resident questioned her behavior. The resident, who filmed the encounter, expressed outrage at the municipal official's language. The Haifa Municipality stated that there are significant discrepancies between the inspector's and witnesses' accounts. The inspector has been summoned for questioning, and the municipality emphasized its commitment to investigating instances of "undignified" conduct by its employees. Following the incident, the inspector has been suspended pending a hearing.
