Ben-Gvir Demands Security, Gottlieb Justice Portfolios in Next Government

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced Tuesday that his Otzma Yehudit party will demand the security and justice portfolios in the next government. Speaking at a press conference alongside MK Tali Gottlieb, Ben-Gvir outlined his security platform for the upcoming term, which includes encouraging voluntary emigration from Gaza and the West Bank. He also proposed raising soldiers' salaries, providing free land to combat soldiers, changing open-fire regulations, revising the "progressive ethical code" of Asa Kasher, and opening elite military units to the general population.

MK Gottlieb presented her justice reform plans, stating that the first step of the next government would be the immediate dismissal of the current Attorney General. Other proposed judicial reforms include appointing Supreme Court justices only after a hearing in the Knesset's Constitution Committee and approval by a two-thirds majority. Gottlieb also called for "returning the High Court of Justice to its natural purpose" and reforming the lenient legal treatment of criminal organizations and terrorists.
