Ben-Gvir Seeks Defense Ministry, Gottlieb Eyes Justice Portfolio
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has declared his interest in heading the Defense Ministry in the next government. His party, Otzma Yehudit, is also positioning MK Tali Gottlieb for the Justice Ministry.
Ben-Gvir unveiled a "security plan" that includes encouraging voluntary emigration from Gaza and the West Bank, dismantling the concept of containment, disarming the Palestinian Authority, arresting senior terror supporters, changing open-fire regulations, backing soldiers, and increasing soldier salaries and providing free land for combat troops.
Gottlieb presented a "justice plan" that calls for the immediate dismissal of the Attorney General, appointing Supreme Court justices only after a Knesset Constitution Committee hearing and a two-thirds majority approval, and redefining non-justiciable matters to return the High Court of Justice to its original purpose.
