Electric Bicycle Rider Killed in Truck Collision Near Zichron Yaakov

An approximately 30-year-old electric bicycle rider was killed Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a truck on Highway 4, near the Zichron Yaakov junction. Emergency medical services who arrived at the scene performed resuscitation efforts, but the rider's death was pronounced.

The incident was reported to emergency services at 4:37 PM. A paramedic described finding the rider lying on the side of the road, unconscious, without a pulse or breathing. Despite resuscitation attempts, the injuries were critical, and death was declared at the scene.

Police accident investigators and officers from the Zichron Yaakov station are at the scene collecting evidence and investigating the circumstances of the crash. This fatality marks the 11th road death since last Thursday.

Earlier Tuesday, a 60-year-old motorcyclist died after being hit by a truck near the Shdema junction, close to the settlement of Nokdim in the Gush Etzion Regional Council. During Yom Kippur, three people died in separate road accidents in the Lower Galilee, near Anata east of Jerusalem, and in Shfaram.

Additionally, emergency services reported that a total of 43 other people were injured in road accidents across the country over the weekend: one woman sustained serious injuries in Anata, three people were moderately injured, and 39 sustained light injuries.
